Date Nut Bread
1 cup chopped dates 3/4 cups raisins 1 tsp baking soda 1 cup boiling water 2 Tbs butter 1 cup sugar
1 tsp vanilla 1 egg 1 1/3 cups flour 3/4 cups chopped nuts
Preheat oven to 325 °F.
Place dates and raisins in covered bowl. Add soda and water, cover and let stand. Cream butter and sugar, add vanilla. Add egg and
beat well. Add flour, mix well. Pour in fruit mixture and nuts, mix well. Pour batter into greased loaf pan. Bake 45 minutes.
